About the Freedom Files

Most Americans wait until something has already gone wrong to think about backup. Our clients are different. They start ten years earlier. Freedom Files is a private advisory for American families building optionality outside the US. Engagements are small, senior-led, and cared for by the people whose names are below.

Most of our clients sat on this idea for years before they ever took action on it.

It’s almost never one singular event that triggers it. It’s a slow realization. They’ve built something worth protecting – a business, a family, a legacy – and they’ve started to notice that all of it is exposed to just one country, one tax system, and one set of political winds. They wouldn’t run a portfolio that way. So why run a family that way?

That’s the question that brings them to us.

To be clear, this is not about leaving the US. Very few renounce their citizenship. They keep the house, the kids stay in school, and from the outside, almost nothing looks different.

What they’re doing is opening an insurance policy.

They get a residency permit in a country with rule of law and a softer regulatory hand. They build a base in a tax-friendly jurisdiction, legally and structured with help. And they spend more time outside the country to live out the dreams they’d always had – a better quality of life at a fraction of the cost.

Here’s why I started the Freedom Files.

I had already done this work on my own life before the firm existed. I left the US a decade ago. After visiting more than 30 countries and living temporarily in more than 15, I get residency in several. I married outside my culture and outside my country of birth. And I’ve deployed capital into investment migration programs that most American high earners have never even heard of. My effective tax rate now sits in the single digits.

I don’t list any of that to impress you. You’re likely far more accomplished than I am, in fact. I do so because most people giving Americans advice on this stuff have never lived outside the country. They haven’t invested in another country. Frankly, they don’t walk the talk.

The only reason I’m qualified to talk to you about your situation is that I’ve already done it with mine.

Our team has been at this for years. We sit down regularly with our clients, other investors, consular officers, politicians, and local lawyers and tax experts. We watch every regulatory change at the source. We live for this game of “investment migration.”

Because of this experience and our holistic strategy, we don’t push programs. We’re not beholden to one jurisdiction over another. The Freedom Files offers ideas that we think are best for your family, your wallet, and your sanity. Our job is to find what fits our clients’ goals and help them make it happen.

It’d be an honor to help you too.

How we work

Every engagement moves through the same five stages.

  1. Introductory call

You have two options to get started: a brief for confirmation on program eligibility, or a full where our experts help you choose a jurisdiction and program that fits your goals.

  2. Modeling

Before you commit to a country and/or investment of time and capital, you meet with expert tax advisors who help you understand all the financial implications. If you’re investing, we help you sort through your options – real estate, funds, or otherwise.

  3. Documentation

Once you’re ready to start the immigration process, we’ll gather FBI background checks, apostilles, sworn translations, marriage and birth certificates, and more for the consulate’s standards.

  4. Filing and approval

We file your application with the consulate who decides your case. No matter the jurisdiction, we’ve been working with that office for years. That strong relationship is often the difference between a fast and slow approval.

  5. Your first days on the ground

Banking, tax registration, residency permits, healthcare enrollment, the works – Don’t worry. The Freedom Files will get you sorted.

Most people spend 100+ hours researching residency and citizenship options before they realize they were looking at the wrong programs. We compress that into 10 questions, 90 seconds, and a single report.
